Conscious Empathy

Affectionately known as the Empathy Queen, Debra has always been known as a compassionate communicator. She appreciates that people have different ways of processing information and has made it her lifelong mission to help strengthen interpersonal relationships by understanding what motivates each person uniquely.

Thoroughly grounded in the science of empathy, Debra earned her Master’s degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Touro University Worldwide and pursued graduate work at Johns Hopkins University in adult learning. Her primary research has centered around emotionally intelligent strategies that help people appreciate each other’s diversity and build inclusive workplaces.

A former learning and development consultant and Executive Director of a private foundation. Debra has had practical opportunities to apply her academic leanings and empathetic communication skills while engaging her clients and thousands of global nonprofit stakeholders. Today, as Chief Empathy Officer of Conscious Empathy, she helps leaders bring the art of heart to work through executive coaching and team development.

Debra is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and serves on the Continuing Education committee for the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology (SIOP).
